Leapers Leaping

So, we had Leap Day this year. How enjoyable. It’s like the day that isn’t; a day that doesn’t really exist, except it does, because here you are going to work or eating dinner or whatever you would normally do on any other day. But next year you won’t be able to do it on this exact day because it won’t exist. Trippy.

And now it’s March and I am not prepared. I have a lot to do this month; so much so that if I listed it here I would no doubt run shrieking from the volume of it all and hide until August. This is the make-or-break month for me, in terms of getting to graduation. I sort of want to throw up a little just thinking about it.

You know, I’m just going to stop all this whimpering right now. I’ve made it this far so there is just no stopping me, and that’s the truth. Come June, I am going to party like it’s 1999, or 1992, or 2010: The Year We Make Contact, or something.

But back to March. Lion and lamb, all that business. It’s already been sort of lion-ey with a brief but intense thunderstorm here today. The downpour melted away a lot of the snow out there, which will possible make my work a teensy bit easier tomorrow. The ice + snow combo covering most these suburbs’ sidewalks is crazy making. Especially when one is tethered to two beagles wild with cabin fever. It’s sort of like a hockey fight with no protective gear.

So, yeah, less snow and ice tomorrow will make me a happier dog girl, although I see temps will dip back down by the end of the week. Can’t give up the long underwear yet. That lion is lurking at your shoulder. And he’s creepy.

  1. I can’t believe how creepy that picture is!

Loved the Leap Day intro! I like how your mind works. And I admire your gift for taking a trivial subject (Leap Day) and turning it into something funny and memorable. Keep writing, girl.

It is a wacky feeling, this bonus day…it’s a friend’s birthday, too – he’s only “aged” two years in the near decade I’ve know him.

I will be writing more soon. Life has been hurtling along bashing me against the rocks, but I’m finding my way back into my raft now.

  5. Mimi says:

I enjoy you so. . .Whats after graduation? Grad School and more dog walking?

  6. strawberry jelly says:

my goodness, where do you find these pictures???
